Rejuvenate your skin at The Skin and Laser Boutique.
Living at higher altitude increases sun-damage to the skin and accelerates the skin’s natural aging process. At The Skin and Laser Boutique, we work with clients to reduce the effects of age and an active, outdoor lifestyle. Photofacials use a series of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments to significantly reduce the appearance of irregular pigmentation including sun damage, freckles, age and sun spots, broken capillaries (especially common around the nose) and rosacea. Photofacials are also effective at improving the complexion of acne plagued skin and reducing the size of enlarged pores, thus improving skin tone and complexion. The procedure requires no “down time” and has a low risk of side effects.
The Skin + Laser Boutique uses the Palomar Starlux IPL system to penetrate the skin with light energy. Irregularly pigmented skin absorbs the light energy, darkens slightly and flakes off within a few weeks. On average, patients receive three to five photofacial treatments, resulting in dramatically improved complexions.
IPL photo rejuvenation (photofacial) is commonly used to treat aging and damaged skin on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. However, they can be used to safely treat skin on any part of the body.
What is Photo Rejuvenation?
Photo Rejuvenation, also known as photofacial or IPL, uses the Palomar Starlux IPL Laser to treat skin conditions and remove the effects of photo-aging such as age or sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles, tones and textures. It also treats other skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and irregular pigmentation. The process creates controlled wounds on the skin, prompting it to heal itself by creating new cells.
Common Treatment Areas
We commonly treat the face, neck and chest, however, other parts of the body can also be treated. We work closely with you to determine what your goals are and develop a customized treatment plan.
How Long Does it Take to See Results?
In most cases it typically takes 3-5 months for a person to see the full effects. During this timeframe, we perform a series of 3-5 treatments about 1 month apart. You can see some improvement with each treatment, however, the way your skin responds could be different with each treatment. The more sun damage or redness that you have, the more likely you will need five or more treatments.
How Long Do the Results Last?
The answer to this greatly depends on how much sun exposure your skin gets after your laser treatments. If you are in the sun a lot and especially if do not use sunscreen regularly, the underlying issues will return. If you keep your skin protected from the sun, cleanse and moisturize daily and generally take good care of your skin, your treatment results will last longer. That being said, we would still recommend one or two maintenance treatments annually.
What is the Photo Rejuvenation Treatment Process?
We will provide you with special glasses or eye pads for protections. A cool gel is placed on the skin that is being treated. The smooth, glass surface of the hand piece is then gently applied to your skin as the pulse of the laser light flashes. You may feel a slight stinging sensation (similar to the snapping of a rubber band) or very brief discomfort, but the treatment generally does not hurt. The treatments typically take between 30 and 90 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area(s).
At the end of the treatment, we wipe off the gel, cleans the area with a warm cloth, and apply a moisturizer with sunscreen. If there is any mild swelling, we may give you a cold compress to apply for five or ten minutes.
